European demand for Chinese silicone products in the future

On March 27, 2019, the European Parliament voted with an overwhelming advantage to ban large-scale disposable plastic products starting in 2021 to control pollution caused by plastic waste flowing into waterways and wilderness.

The European Parliament passed a plastic ban by 560 votes to 35 votes. Although EU member states support the ban on the use of disposable plastic products, including straw and cotton swabs, the EU still needs to vote in favor of the implementation rules.

The report states that disposable tableware will not be completely banned, but this measure requires manufacturers to produce as much sustainable materials as possible. The EU decree also sets the goal of recycling 90% of plastic bottles by 2025, while halving the ten most common wastes in the ocean.

The EU expects that these changes will increase the EU's economic cost from 259 million euros to 695 million euros per year.

European Parliament Member Margaret Oken pointed out that these suggestions will help the EU reduce disposable plastic products and related consumption, while encouraging multiple parties to use more well-designed products to be more creative and support a cleaner environment. "The next step is to give up our wasteful culture.

This is very exciting for the silicone industry. Silicone straws and silicone kitchenware will bring more opportunities.
